Mara and HER money.
The happy story of a home business builder who found that the money is actually is actually hers! A wonderful thing happened this week with a lady who got started in her home business...SHE made money. I keep emphasizing that this is Mara's money because SHE had a hard time believing it was hers. Here's how it worked. Mara started her business on Tuesday of this week. We showed her how to build a cash flow quickly using the products we have to market. She called our home office on Thursday and spoke to my wife about some friends who wanted the products that came with her starter kit. So far so good. Diane (my wife) told her to give them the products that they wanted from that kit, and to take the money they wanted for the other products at the retail price, then order them from the company at the wholesale price. Mara asked, "who should they make the check out to?" Diane said, "to you, of course!" Mara got so excited, she just about jumped through the phone line. For the first time, she understood that SHE was in business and if SHE did the work, the money would go to HER. Put it another way...Mara had spent her whole adult life working for someone else. She got paid for what she did, in the form of a paycheck for the company. She knew in the back of her mind that what she was doing was making more money for the company than she was getting paid, and she was willing to accept that. She got so used to that way of thinking, that she just assumed that for the work she was doing now, someone else was getting paid first. "You mean this is MY money????" For the first time, Mara was working for herself. And it felt sooooooooooo good! Most people, as much as they say differently, really want the security of working for someone and getting that paycheck. It gives them a feeling of safety, even if they know they're selling themselves short. Problem is, the company may like you and give you a neat picnic once a year, or even a bonus. But as we've all seen, when times get tough, they HAVE to take care of themselves first. People start losing their paychecks, and we realize the hard way that there really is no such thing as job security. Robert Kiyosaki, the author of the Rich Dad, Poor Dad series has it right when he says one of the rules of the rich is to "mind your own business." To me that means that if you want to build a lifestyle that gets you excited about waking up in the morning instead of dreading the day to come, you've got to take responsibility for your own success. Learn what you need to learn. Ask questions when you don't know the answers. Follow through on your good ideas instead of letting fear hold you back. And be ready and willing to accept the responsibilities and the REWARDS. Mara is ready, and she's on her way to home business success.
